Last week we published news that photos of the virtual reality Samsung headset had leaked into the Net . Announce it should have been at a Microsoft event dedicated to launching a whole line of mixed reality devices developed under the license of the Redmond Corporation for the Windows 10 operating system. During the presentation, the South Korean company Samsung first officially introduced its new headset called Odyssey. The device should be on sale on November 3, and pre-orders for it are open from today.
The Samsung Odyssey headset is equipped with two 3.5-inch AMOLED-displays with a resolution of 1440 x 1600 pixels each. The device has built-in headphones manufactured by AKG company, a system for tracking the surrounding space and motion controllers, as well as a microphone. The user will see a virtual reality with a viewing angle of 110 degrees. The headset Samsung – the sixth in terms of devices that support the Windows Mixed Reality platform, and the first, which comes with integrated headphones (something this remotely resembles Oculus Rift).
The headset will go to stores at a price of 499 dollars, which is significantly more expensive than other devices released under this program. Dell Visor and Lenovo Explorer will cost $ 350 (450 dollars bundled with two controllers), the Acer headset will cost only $ 300 (400 with controllers), and the HP helmet will be sold at $ 329 (429 with controllers). The closest thing to Samsung was the decision of ASUS company – its headset was estimated at 449 euros, which is about 500 dollars. You can pre-order any of these devices right now.
